Video clip Details:On Tuesday 21 June 2011 six photographers were assigned diverse regions of the City to photograph. Some used tripods, some went hand held, a single set up a 5 x 4. All were instructed to preserve to public land and photograph the location as they would on a standard day. The celebration aimed to check the policing of public and personal room by non-public security firms and their reaction to photographers. All 6 photographers have been stopped on at minimum a single event. Three encounters led to police action. This is what took place. Nice to see the police taking a sensible and pragmatic approach. A raspberry to the building staff.
Anyone, almost anywhere, can log onto Google Earth and upload images from all different directions and orientations of places like Area 51, the Pentagon, etc.
(Try it). Pure hysteria – common sense should prevail. We are becomming a corporate-state government…just like the Chinese.
@binderskagnaes
The police take interest because they want to size you up. They will ask what you do for a living as a form of threat assessment, doesn’t mean it can’t be a nice chat though
very interesting, in fact they were polite, in Czech Republic security guys start beating you without asking…for example Orco has such a policy. Hope we will be in free country one day. Great video!
Great Video!
@ShaunoftheSmeg What an ignorant comment.
Credit to the police. Good lads
While they were trying to mislead the photographers (most likely out of ignorance) the security guards were much calmer than you’d expect because they were being filmed. I’m fairly certain I’d end up with my camera being thrown across the road if I was in a similar situation on my own. While I could possibly get the guy for criminal damage I’d imagine the only CCTV cameras that caught it would be privately owned, most likely by the company whose building I was shooting!
@bazeeem What a PC prick!
This country is full jobsworth traffic wardens and security guards, mostly Nigerian. These are the Nigerians who are not intelligent enough to use a computer to scam all of the gullible morons in the world out of their money with ludicrous emails.
@ShaunoftheSmeg – What a vile comment.
The police seemed suspiciously knowledgable and polite, which makes me think they could have been tipped off to your documentary being filmed and educated some officers on the law and had them ready for you
Well known fact that all terrorist informers use vintage 5×4 large format fine art cameras to do their inconspicuous business. I’d be concerned.
No filming….. goony goony goo goo! I is a Nigerian security guard…. goony goo goo! no filming or I do not get my banana….
Thanks for doing this. Ace video.
I live in the City and really like riding around taking pics when it’s empty like after hours and on weekends. Never once have I been stopped and I’ve taken pictures of buildings in this video. It looks like it’s mainly the actual bankers and city workers anonymity that over zealous security are trying to protect.
The cop’s were awesome, they all knew the rules and were really good about it. The wanna-be policemen on the other hand, obviously this is why they didn’t pass ‘policeman school, they missed the part where they needed to know the law.
I got the point after the first minute.
It just goes to show. If you give a prick a uniform or a little bit of authority……..
Well done to all of the policemen in that film.
I can’t remember the last time I was not stopped when photographing in London, but only private security people. Never by police; in fact I’ve had police taking an interesting what I was doing.
pretty disturbing really
Look on 13:00 minutes at how quickly a number of police respond to the evil photographer, pitty the police arent as quick when real criminals are rioting and looting in London.
@NonRandomNonSense Im guessing that the security guards would of requested not be filmed whilst they were being told off by the big boss! Cunts lol
security people are so thick and ignorant.
