Unfortunately the university old cronies in their ivory towers don’t want it to change because they are sitting pretty. They (deans etc.) earn a lot of money and have a lot of power where they sit. Some HE’s in the UK are a form of indoctrination and debt slaving. Either you believe in their way of thinking or you get a low grade or you get kicked out. Some HE institutes have become so narrow minded in this respect that they will do ANYTHING to resist this change.

@74u73hjd – It’s still alive and well in the current government in every capacity.

if it wasn’t for the goverment spending the money – then who would! It would be even worse if it wasn’t for the NHS and other public services. At least you can choose whether to spend your money or not.

WW2 was predicated on a draft. Draft = Slavery. Fight fascism with fascism for the win! Also I think you’d like a documentary called ‘stupid in america’ look it up on youtube :)

Actually public school was never good. Industrialisation happened despite public schools, not because of them. Public schools will always be terrible for the same reason the NHS is terrible. government can never spend YOUR money as efficiently as you can spend it yourself. In every instance goverment reduces your choices and wastes your money.

They call it the American Dream because it only happens when you’re dreaming. I also find it ironic we fought world war two to get rid of fascism but, it’s still live and well in are public education system.

The problem is public schools. They attract mediocrity. In the private sector good teachers get paid more and bad ones get fired. in the public second good teachers get frustrated and often quit and bad teachers get to fuck around and NEVER get fired. Oh, and not to mention the centrally planned sylabusses which rob parents of the chance to choose a school that fits their child
